FRANK REMPE (FrankRempe.com, myspace.com/frankrempe, TAO, LV/NY)

Soul of Man (Finger Lickin’ Records, UK)
Having set up Finger Lickin’ Records in the late nineties it wasn’t long until they had a string of breakbeat classics under their belt; ‘Love & Hate’, ‘Between the Eyes’ and ‘Gonna Keep On’, became a staple in every DJ’s box with a unique sound that attracted other like minded producers to join forces with the Finger Lickers. The Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, A-Skillz, Lee Coombs and The Drumattic Twins soon became part of the collective as their sound helped shape a whole generation of music makers. It’s a little known secret that without Justin and Jem a whole chapter in the history of dance music would never have existed.

Chip "Mancub" Corwin (Space Cowboys, Sleevin Records, SF)
It is hard to nail his style down, most would say “funky, sometimes nasty”. Chip “Mancub” Corwin is currently voted as a top ten dj of San Francisco. He has been blowing up the block party jams for over ten years. Mancub has a very diffinitive style of turntable tricks that have earned him slots beside some of the dance industry’s biggest headliners. His turntable antics are too numerous to mention but include scratching while wearing boxing gloves, he certainly knows how to work the crowd into a frenzy!!You can hear his mixes on the internet radio station pulseradio.net, netamp.com or djmancub.com. The netamp show is aired on the last Wednesday of the month or archived. Mancub also plays for the infamous playa posse The Spacecowboys, ripping up a rare storm on the mighty Unimog at numerous unforgettable party’s. Mancub has recently joined Sleevin records and is supporting us in a big way. Look out for future singles and remixes of his work on the label.

SIMO (Sleevin Records, SF)
S.I.M.O. (Superior, Integrated, Music Operations) was born in Wiltshire UK and raised in Devon , a true Westcountry lad through and through.

He developed an interest in electronic music in 1994 mainly listening to funky acid house and later acid techno and drum n bass, he soon developed a liking for all things “bangin’”.

In 1997 Simo struck up a relationship with Devon’s B.L.I.M posse and, playing alongside some of acid techno’s most highly acclaimed DJs and producers such as Rowland the Bastard, Chris Liberator, and D.A.V.E the Drummer at various outdoor parties and festivals across the Westcountry, he soon made a name for himself with his take-no-prisoners approach to turntablism.

1999 saw Simo relocate to San Francisco where he has been working on various projects with the locals ever since. These days Simo plays what can only be described as funky breaks with a little acid and a lot of bass! He has found himself playing alongside some of Breakbeat’s biggest names, including; Lee Coombs, Adam Freeland, Bassbin Twins, Lee Burridge, DJ Icey and The Mutaytor . He has also been throwing down vinyl in San Francisco’s largest clubs and underground warehouses, including the legendary Fillmore.

In 2004 he teamed up with local funkster DJ Motion Potion to form the “Scratch ‘n’ Sniff” project where Simo’s bass-heavy beats are complimented by MoPo’s eclectic mix of old and new skool acappellas, samples and scratching. This project has seen the boys head to Cornell University in New York to perform at an electronic music seminar, and as far afield as the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, to perform alongside the likes of Jurrassic 5, STS9 and RJD2.

Simo also works with legendary San Francisco producer B. Smiley bringing a “bigger, funkier” sound to the underground with tracks like “Who Stole the Soul?”, ”It’s a nice” and “Dirty Bizness.

SMOOVE (Newsbreakz, SF)
Rising out of the 90's Drum 'n Bass scene in San Francisco, Smoove quickly became a fixture on the underground Breakz circuit in 2001 DJ'ing with Space Cowboys and their mighty Unimog. These days his signature power-funk Breakz sound can be heard every weekend all over San Francisco's night life, from underground warehouse parties to his residencies at The End Up, 1015 and Mighty. All his hard work in the night club trenches has earned him membership in nitevibe.com's DJ Dream Team three years in a row and was voted Best DJ 2008 by the readers of the S.F. Bay Guardian in their annual "Best of the Bay" issue. Taking his sound to the airwaves, Smoove has been featured on XM Satellite Radio’s Thump Funk show (XM 80) as well as Below Zero on Energy 92.7 and was a frequent guest on Future Breaks on KUSF. In 2004 he, along with Donna Matrix, started publishing the underground magazine NewsBreakz and more recently is set to launch NBz 2.0 the on-line version in late 2008. Simply put, Smoove is one of the quintessential tastemakers in the San Francisco Breakz scene today and can always be relied on to bring a big party fun sound that makes the crowd go giddy on the dance floor. And he's also your girlfriend's favorite!

DJ.

MURPHSTAR (Seismic, SF)
Murph has been rockin' our world for years with Seismic producing some of the the biggest breaks shows in SF at Mighty. Seismic has single-handedly has brought out every member of the Fingerlickin' family, most recently getting the Plump DJs! In fact, he loves Fingerlickin' so much we actually think he's one of their employees dressed as an American.

Tom Hoch (Milehighhouse.com, CO)
Hoch’s transformation into rock star dj status started in the early 70’s. As a roadie for the psychedelic funk polka band “Earl and the Wildcats” Hoch was exposed to styles of music unbeknownst to many. After years of wild after parties with drunken bagpipers and their groupies he decided to make a change in musical stylings. Starting in late 1995 Hoch started mixing Orlando style breakbeats and minimal techno. The loft on 31st and Larimer was the training ground for Hoch, hosting many parties in the afterhours arena. Spinning with many of the countries top dj’s and producers he evolved into playing diverse styles of house, downtempo, hip hop and breaks.

In the past few years, Hoch decided to pool all of the collective resources he had ties with and created Milehighhouse productions. Milehighhouse is a collective of producers, dj’s, graphic artists, web designers and other talents that are related to the electronic music world. He created a website, milehighhouse.com that is basically a menu of what this strong collective has to offer. Making a strong presence in Miami, at the winter music conference in 2000, the collective was launched. Since that time the collective has grown from 6 groups of producers to 11 with 15 different Dj’s to support them. Their music is released on major indie labels including, Guidance Recordings, Imperial Dub, Grayhound, Toko, Jah Love, Tequila Sound, Totem Records, ING Records, Lo-Rise Recordings, Leaf Recordings, Straylight Recordings, Ruff Recordings, Terraform records and others.

Milehighhouse is responsible for many successful club nights and special events in Denver. In a little over three years Milehighhouse has risen to a leadership role in Colorado’s electronic music world. Milehighhouse Recordings was launched in October 2002 with it’s first e.p. release from Ilk. A full-length album, “Out of Thin Air - Vol. 1? was released in August of 2003.

Working as chief a&r man and marketing manager Tom Hoch and his team are rapidly building alliances across the country and the world. In the past three years Hoch has created one of the most original and unique underground parties in the region, the milehigh tea parties. These events have been used to showcase some of the worlds up and coming DJ and producer talents to Denver’s stage. These events have been widely recognized as one of Denver’s nightlife gems. Hoch is also responsible for promotions and bookings for most of the mhhp roster, and doing the main A&R tasks for milehighhouse recordings.

In late 2003 Tom Hoch was brought into the fold of the new digital download network www.beatport.com. Hoch is working as Head of Label Management for the Americas with Beatport presently.

Tom Hoch and Pete Wall received a “Best of Denver” award from Westword magazine for their Monday night weekly event, “Textiles” @1515 market in Denver.(4/02) and for his “Beats and Bowling” events “Best Underground Party Series” (4/03)

FRANK REMPE (FrankRempe.com, myspace.com/frankrempe, TAO, LV/NY)
Frank was born in Scranton, PA, and based in New York City for 11 years. Every clubber has their goldedn era, and this was his. Though the trend of the weekly residency seems to have fallen out of favor these days, this was a time when you had Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vazquez, Erick Morillo, Little Louie Vega, Body and Soul - all paying weekly in NYC, as well as Twilo introducing New York to all of the European superstars on a weekly basis. This was before the "bottle service" bussiness model became the norm, and the focus was squarely on the dancefloor. It was this expousure, and appreciation of it, that shaped Frank Rempe the DJ, and also what allows him to appeal to such discriminating audiences today.

Since his first break at Club Cheetah in New York, Frank has played at major clubs & held residencies in New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco and beyond, including several appearances at San Francisco's Ruby Skye and the legendary EndUp, the opening of Vessel, the 5 Year Anniversary of Sullivan Room, Volar, Hong Kong, and perhaps, most notably, the main room of Space, Ibiza. Around the same time, he released his first record, collaboration with Conrado Martinez called, "Capicu", on Basic Beat Records. Along the way he's shared the stage with some of the best, Dubfire, Erick Morillo, Josh Wink, Seb Fontaine, Doc Martin, Hector Romero to name a few - as well as the best locals and residents in every city he's played.

From '06 -'07 he was the resident DJ @ at Tao, New York, while doing other select spots around the city, and the world. His style ranges from sexy San Francisco to big room New York, and all stops in between. He currently resides in Las Vegas, where he has expanded his role with the Tao organization, where he is a resident at both Tao and Lavo. Though his musical roots will always be in New York, he looks forward to continuing to contribute to the overall scene, and sound, in the nightlife capital of the world. Frank loves being know as a New York DJ & strives to live up to the level of expectation it implies, and his reputation in the industry as someone who consistently delivers, suggests he's earned it.

"I’ve been really lucky, not only to work, but to be able to express myself in the way that I have, and for it to be appreciated like it has, it’s just the ultimate thing."
